Folks at Ponca State Park found a creative way to beat the heat Saturday by holding its first annual Mud Day. Crowds came out early to beat the heat and were greeted by a variety of activities.

Attendees could play on a mud slide or try their best at a mud obstacle course. They could also decorate their own shirt to take home and learn about creatures that like to hang out in the mud. There was also a mud pie making contest.

Park officials think the event was a success. They say over 120 people showed up to the event in the first couple of hours. They hope to build on the event for next year.
