Former Chaser Donnie Dewees hit a two-out RBI double, and Dixon Machado followed with a two-run single to break open a 1-1 game.
Third baseman Chase d’Arnaud, playing in his second game with the Chasers, drove in Samir Duenez with a single in the top of the second inning after Phillip Evans had given Iowa a 1-0 lead on a single in the first.
Omaha starter Arnaldo Hernandez gave up five runs, but only two earned. The Chasers committed two errors, including a fielding miscue by shortstop Erick Mejia that allowed the Cubs’ first base runner of the fourth inning.
Craig Kimbrel, a seven-time All-Star who signed with the Chicago Cubs earlier this month, finished the game for Iowa, pitching a perfect ninth with two strikeouts.
The Chasers and Cubs continue their series at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday.
