Norfolk Fire Department Getting New Equipment

NORFOLK - Norfolk Fire and Rescue is getting a new piece of equipment.
In a news conference Tuesday, Norfolk City and Fire officials gathered at Fire Station One to announce the purchase of a $1.2 million engine.
The cost is being split 50/50 by the City and the Norfolk Rural Fire Protection District.
The one it's replacing was bought in 1974 and Fire Chief Scott Cordes says it was a long time coming.
He says the new aerial apparatus can reach up to 100 feet in the air. High enough to reach Norfolk's tallest residential and commercial buildings.
The old engine is being bought by a local to keep it from going back to the manufacturer and to keep a piece of fire department history in the community.
