One man dead, another person critically injured in crash in Council Bluffs

One man died Wednesday after the vehicle he was driving crashed in Council Bluffs, and a passenger in the vehicle was taken to the hospital in “very critical” condition.
The vehicle was going south on Oakland Avenue about 11:40 a.m. when the driver lost control and the vehicle continued through West Kanesville Boulevard and struck the Omni Center parking garage. Oakland Avenue turns into a dead end at West Kanesville.
First responders had to cut the driver out of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
The identities of the people inside the vehicle have not been released yet pending notification of relatives.
