Storm could bring 3 inches of rain to southeast Nebraska

Rain is in the forecast almost every day for at least another week.
Two systems are expected to churn through the region, said Hallie Bova, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Valley.


The first could drop about 3 inches of rain across southeast Nebraska, she said.


Because of the higher expected rain totals to the south and the already saturated soil, the weather service has issued a flash flood watch for most of the central U.S. from southeast Nebraska to northern Texas.

The period of greatest concern, at this point, is Monday night through Tuesday evening, when the rain could be at its heaviest, Bova said.
On Wednesday, a break and some sunshine are forecast, Bova said.


After that, another system moves in, and with it come more chances of rain into the weekend.


The long-term outlook indicates that the region has an above-average chance of being rainier than normal into summer.
