Blue Rapids, Kansas Man Killed in Highway Collision

BEATRICE - A Friday collision four miles east of Riley, Kansas has taken the life of a Blue Rapids man.
The Kansas Highway Patrol identified the victim as 48-year-old Larmar Whitson, the Third. He was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon south on U.S. Highway 77, when a northbound vehicle attempting to turn on U.S. Highway 24, collided with the Yukon. The northbound 2014 Ford Focus was driven by 29-year-old Daniel Gray, of Lawrence. He and a 25-year-old female passenger in his car were not injured.
A passenger in the Yukon, Jill Whitson was taken to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka with suspected serious injuries. Two girls, ages 18 and 12 were also passenger in the vehicle.
All four of the occupants of the GMC were wearing seat belts, as was the driver and passenger of the Focus.
The accident happened at around one p.m., Friday.
