MADISON - A train set at the Madison County Historical Society has so many details that it's hard to fathom what more could be added. However, the workers with the Northeast Nebraska Railroad Association have big plans for the new year. The group has compiled a list of resolutions that they plan to follow. The resolutions pertain to various sections of their train set, and how they plan to modify the set throughout 2015.
City Director and Economic Director, Ron Brogan, says, "Of course one of the New Years resolutions is to just keep working on the layout. It just keeps getting better and better every year."
The Railroad Association is kicking off the year by sticking to numerous creative goals. They plan to add and update specific areas in their gigantic display.
President Richard Fleischer describes one of their main goals saying,"Some of our resolutions are like our big coal field and our coal mine. We want to have it completed this year."
Former M.R.A. President, Don Knapp adds to Fleischer's statement regarding the coal field saying, "This year I want to get all of this built in here. I've got to finish this building."
"There's a lot of detail work to do yet that looks good but there is a lot more that can be done there," adds M.R.A. worker, Lawrence Vesely.
Another M.R.A. worker, Jon Wurtele, describes the transformation of the train set's Mount Rushmore display and the progress that's been made saying, "This stuff started out as two pieces of styrafoam and it was cut down and glued together."
With a train set as large as this there's a lot of projects still underway and the team in Madison is really digging in to get the work done.
