Panhandle troopers rush to northeast Nebraska with resources

NORFOLK - Troopers with SWAT from western Nebraska are enroute to Northeastern Nebraska to assist with the flooding. The light armored vehicle will be used to assist in water rescues and other areas where specialized equipment can help Nebraskans.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood emergency for a number of towns in eastern Nebraska, including Ashland, Yutan, and Schuyler, as the Platte River is expected to rise 4-5 feet.
According to a release by the weather service, "emergency management reported a surge floodwaters traveling down the Platte River related to a recent ice jam breakup.
Floodwaters will quickly rise 4 to 5 feet along the Platte River and will quickly flood locations immediately adjacent to the river. Residents please to quickly evacuate and move to higher ground now!"
The Flash Flood Warning is in effect for the following areas:
Northwestern Sarpy County in east central Nebraska…
Southeastern Colfax County in northeastern Nebraska…
Southwestern Dodge County in east central Nebraska…
Western Douglas County in east central Nebraska…
Northeastern Butler County in east central Nebraska…
Northeastern Saunders County in east central Nebraska…
“This is a Flash Flood Emergency for the area around the Platte River from Schuler to Ashland and is a particularly dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now," the release states.
