Officials Stress Documenting Storm Damage

BEATRICE - County and city governments have been documenting damage from the recent flooding, in order to obtain Federal Emergency Management Agency reimbursement for public damage and storm overtime costs.
Gage County Board member Gary Lytle says its important cities, counties and townships take the paperwork seriously.

Gage County Emergency Management Coordinator Lisa Wiegand and County Highway Superintendent Galen Engel are documenting damage in the county, including inspecting roads, bridges and culverts.
County Board Chairman Eric Tiemann says it appears some damage will qualify for reimbursement.

County officials today said it appears the condition of the Holmesville asphalt road may be included as eligible for federal reimbursement. Tiemann says that was the impression from a recent meeting with FEMA field staff.

County officials are aiding township officials with completing paperwork on requests for public assistance…that would be filed with FEMA officials.
Gage County officials say a lot of requests have been received for hauling rock to shore up bad spots in roads….and Supervisor Terry Jurgens says he expects much more to be hauled in the coming weeks.
