6 AM UPDATE: Evacuation still in effect for Norfolk

By News Channel NebraskaNORFOLK - Thousands of Norfolk residents are waking up this morning in beds that aren't their own, and still are unable to return home.
The mass evacuation of Norfolk's east side is still in effect until further notice.
The boundaries of the evacuated area are Seventh Street to the west, Victory Road to the east, Eisenhower Avenue to the north and the Elkhorn River to the south.
The evacuation was put in place around 6 a.m. Wednesday as levels on the North Fork of the Elkhorn River rose to record levels, threatening the flood control levee on the north side of town.
Matters were complicated when levels on the Elkhorn River on the south side of town began reaching levels similar to the massive floods that affected Norfolk in 2010.
