Kearney police arrest man on multiple felonies after SWAT deployment

KEARNEY, Neb. — Kearney police called the SWAT team Tuesday morning to arrest a man for multiple felony charges.

Police Chief Gabe Kowalek says officers served an arrest warrant around 9 a.m. at the Centennial Park Apartment Complex, where 39-year-old Christopher Aron was taken into custody without incident.

Aron faces charges including felon in possession of a firearm, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, false imprisonment, terroristic threats and domestic assault.

Police say the Emergency Services Unit was deployed to ensure the safety of officers, the suspect and residents at the apartment complex.

The incident is still under investigation, and police said more details will be revealed in the coming days.
