Central Nebraska Humane Society helps place 92 cats from Lincoln hoarding case
92 cats that were recently rescued from a hoarding situation at a Lincoln home.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Central Nebraska Humane Society has stepped in to assist the Capital Humane Society in placing the 92 cats that were recently rescued from a hoarding situation at a Lincoln home.
On Jan. 30, Lincoln Animal Control conducted an annual multi-cat household permit inspection at a northeast Lincoln home and observed several violations.
Authorities rescued 92 cats from the home. According to the shelter, two dead cats were also found inside the home.
“Here at our admissions and assessments center our capacity is 123%,” Matt Madcharo, executive director at the Capital Humane Society, said. “So more cats than we have cages to care for them. With this number of cats that have come in in a short amount of time, we need to make some space in the shelter. All of the cats and kittens that are already up for adoption and not a part of this hoarding case, we need to find homes for them so we can free up some space at our adoption center.”
Because of this need, Capital Humane Society asked the Central Nebraska Humane Society for help placing some of the cats.
Cats are now available for adoption at both facilities.
