AINSWORTH, Neb. - Drivers in the Bassett, Ainsworth and Springview areas can expect changes. The Nebraska Department of Transportation says that this spring, portions of U.S. Highway 183 and Nebraska Highway 7 near Bassett will be renumbered, reverting those routes to their 1966 designations.

The change will affect about 17 miles of U.S. 183 and roughly 23 miles of Highway 7, impacting parts of Brown, Rock and Keya Paha counties.

Cherry and Keya Paha Emergency Manager Jessica Coyle recently told the Cherry County Board of Commissioners she is working to spread the word, making sure emergency responders and dispatchers are aware of the upcoming switch and have accurate location information.

NDOT has additional details about the renumbering available on its website.
