COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After a blowout win that stood out in a dual full of nailbiting battles, Chadron State sophomore 197-pounder Mason Villwok has been named the RMAC Men's Wrestler of the Week.

Villwok, ranked No. 20 nationally by The Open Mat, earned a decisive major decision win over No. 19-ranked Ben Tonnessen of Adams State in a dual between the No. 16-ranked Eagles and No. 15-ranked Grizzlies last Saturday. The 197-pound bout was one of only two matches out of the 10 contested between the schools to have bonus points awarded on either side in ASU's 22-10 dual win over the Eagles.

Villwok, who hails from Elkhorn, Nebraska, scored nine points in the first period and recorded four takedowns plus a three-point near fall while adding the riding time point. Tonnessen's only points of the bout came on escapes.

It is the second career RMAC Wrestler of the Week honor for Villwok, who previously earned the award during the final week of his true freshman season on February 18, 2025.

Villwok has avoided any notion of a sophomore slump in a big way. He enters this week's action with a 13-3 record and is a perfect 4-0 in RMAC duals. The win over Tonnesson was Villwok's third straight win that earned bonus points.

As a program, Chadron State has earned three RMAC Wrestler of the Week awards this season as 125-pounder Quade Smith and 133-pounder Hunter Jacobsen earned honors on November 11 and November 18, respectively.

The Eagles are in the thick of a crowded RMAC title race, as they are one of three RMAC teams with one conference loss. Chadron State faces Western Colorado on Thursday and Colorado Mesa on Saturday, both on the road, in their final RMAC duals of the season.
