STANTON, Neb. — A shed fire in Northeast Nebraska prompted a response from fire officials and law enforcement on Tuesday (Jan 21).

The incident, which occurred at approximately 3 p.m., took place on a property north of Woodland Park and a quarter mile north of Peace Church. Firefighters were on the scene working to extinguish the blaze.

The Stanton County Sheriff's Office reported to News Channel Nebraska that the shed was a total loss. Nearby residents aided efforts by moving hay bales and other flammable materials away from the fire's vicinity.

Smoke from the fire temporarily slowed traffic on Highway 35. However, after the fire was extinguished, traffic flow was restored.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and authorities have announced that an investigation will be conducted.
