HASTINGS, Neb. – Tuesday marks 85 years to the date of KHAS Radio's first day on the air in Hastings.

KHAS went on the air on Sept. 30, 1940 in the current Hastings Tribune building on W 2nd St. and Burlington Ave.

The station was recognized Tuesday by the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce with a plaque recognizing 85 years of broadcasting to the Hastings community.

KHAS has featured its morning buy, sell, trade show 'Partyline' since 1941, which is a staple in the Hastings community.

The station moved to its first stand-alone location on W J St. in 1999, and made a move to its current building in the Burlington Center in 2023.

The staff of six employees have been recently recognized as the 'Small Business of the Year' by the Hastings Area Chamber of Commerce in 2023, and a 'Gold Award' from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association in August of 2025.
