Kearney man arrested on felony child and animal abuse charges

Kearney police arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday on charges related to child and animal abuse.

KEARNEY, Neb. - Police in Central Nebraska arrested a 30-year-old man Tuesday morning on multiple felony charges related to child and animal abuse.

Officers with the Kearney police department and buffalo county sheriff’s office served a warrant around 8:45 a.m. at a home in the east lawn mobile home park.

The man, whose name has not been released, faces two counts of felony child abuse, as well as charges of felony strangulation, terroristic threats and intentional cruelty to an animal.

Due to the severity of the charges law enforcement used their emergency service unit to take the suspect into custody without incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
