The Kearney Archway is celebrating 25 years
The Kearney Archway has reached its silver anniversary and will be celebrating on Saturday.
By News Channel NebraskaKEARNEY, Neb.-- The Kearney Archway has reached its silver anniversary and will be celebrating on Saturday.
From 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the Archway will be packed with history, games and live music for all.
There will be food trucks and refreshments from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. as well as family fun from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Activities include miniature train rides, a "cow milking" contest, horse-drawn wagon rides and much more.
The whole event is a free will donation, except for the self-guided museum tour, which is $5 per person.
At 5:00 p.m., Senator Stan Clouse will unveil the George Wyman memorial project, with a musical performance, Fort Kearney reenactment and video presentation of the 25 years at the Archway.
The George Wyman memorial project was chosen to honor Wyman, who rode across the United States on a motorized bike and made a pit stop in Kearney.
The Pink Cadillac's, who specialize in big band, country and classic rock will begin performing at 6:00 p.m.
"I'm just excited for people to come and see what we've added since then," said Cherry Hill who is in charge of events and marketing for the Archway. "We have a new exhibit that we're dedicating tomorrow which I am really excited about with a lot of family activities going on that will be a lot of fun."
Big Bernie's Fireworks will also be ending the night with a display at 9:00 p.m.
