Hastings resident Arvelyn Mae Loudon, 88, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, NE.

 

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 16, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Pastor Paul Ozbun officiating. The private family burial will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. The service will be live-streamed on Livingston Butler Volland Funeral Home’s website. Arvelyn was born October 4, 1936, in Sisseton, SD to Axel and Minnie (Hammer) Anderson. They moved to Hastings when she was eight years old. She graduated from high school in 1954. Arvelyn married Robert Loudon in 1955, and they were married for 64 years; he preceded her in death on December 26, 2019.

 

Arvelyn started working at Mary Lanning Healthcare for eight years and then went to work at Hastings Medical Lab for 25 years. When the lab closed, she went to work at Snell Publishing for five years. Arvelyn went back to work for Mary Lanning Healthcare until her retirement at 73 years old. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, music in school, and cooking.

Arvelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Shorty” Loudon; infant daughter, Lynn Marie Loudon; grandson, Jared Demuth; brothers, Dale Anderson and Milton Munson; sister, Karen Watula.
