A woman found guilty of murdering her ex-husband in 1996 has died at a Lincoln hospital.

Wilma Castor, 76, was convicted of first-degree murder and multiple forgery charges, receiving a life sentence in 2000 for killing Thomas Brown and leaving his body in a ditch northwest of Kearney.

Castor was serving her time at the Nebraska Correctional Center for women.

She was being treated for an undisclosed medical condition. Whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, an investigation is done by a grand jury.
