KEARNEY, Neb. — Kearney Regional Medical Center is encouraging people to register for a 5K run with a medical twist.

The Scrub Run 5K Fun Run will start at 9:30 on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Yanney Park in Kearney. Participants will “scrub in” before the run, like medical staff scrubs in before a shift. They will be able to put on disposable head covers, shoe covers, gloves, and/or masks. The event shirts will also mimic the look of real scrubs.

The run/walk is open to everyone, including people who bring strollers, wagons, scooters and dogs on leashes. The event is meant to promote healthy living and community pride.

KRMC will offer a prize for the best dressed, as well as the top male and female finisher. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Kearney Regional Medical Center Foundation and used to purchase more teddy bears for children visiting the hospital.

Registration costs $10 for adults and $25 for adults who also want the event t-shirt. Children 10 and under can participate and receive a t-shirt for $10. The 5K will start and end at the Environmental Resource Center (ERC) Building at Yanney Park.

Registration is available here.
