HASTINGS, Neb. – Hastings city officials are investigating the cause of a building that collapsed Wednesday morning.

According to the city, multiple agencies were called to the intersection of W. 2nd St. and Hastings Ave. around 10 a.m.

The building had been condemned since 2022, after a fire burned down the old Bert's Pharmacy building directly to the east.

On scene, the east side wall and roof collapsed, causing debris to fall into a fenced off area, as well as empty parking spaces on Hastings Ave.

Authorities said there were no injuries, and the building was unoccupied.

First responders evacuated the South Central Taekwondo building directly to the west for safety concerns.

A spokesperson for the city says the cause of the collapse is not yet known, and a structural engineer from Lincoln will help investigate the collapse.
