EPIC Discovery gives preview of the inside on museum, asking for feedback

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. - - A planned children's museum in Grand Island is giving a sneak peek of what it will look like when it opens.
The EPIC Discovery Center revealed renderings of the facility on Thursday. Executive Director Alison Larson says they have been working with Canadian architects on the plans for more than five years. The next step is gathering more community input, which she hopes to accomplish through pop-up events and pilot testing this weekend.
“So, some of the things that might make an appearance inside, our museum will be available for kids to play with and then see if we like these do we need to make some changes and then maybe go back to drawing board if we don’t like it at all," said Larson." So, it’s our opportunity for kids here to have some input and what they’ll see today.”
Museum officials will be at Big Red Treats on Friday and at the library on Saturday and Sunday.
Museum leaders are also focused on their capital campaign, which finishes at the end of the year. They need to raise $5 million dollars in order to get a $5 million match from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
Larson says they are hoping to open the museum by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
The total project goal is of $13.2 million.
