Dog dies in Buffalo County house fire

A home in Central Nebraska is damaged after a fire that could have been started by lightning.

GIBBON, Neb. — A home in Central Nebraska is damaged after a fire that could have been started by lightning.

The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office says the fire happened Tuesday night about three miles southwest of Gibbon. According to sheriff’s office, everyone got out safe but one family dog died in the blaze. Authorities say the fire appeared to be caused by a lightning strike.

Firefighters from Gibbon, Kearney and Shelton all responded.
