Former UNK interim coach Antoine Young gets assistant job at UCM
WARRENSBURG, Mo. — The former interim men's basketball coach at UNK is staying in the conference for his next job.
The University of Central Missouri announced Thursday that it hired Antoine Young as an assistant coach. Young spent the past six seasons at UNK as an assistant under former coach Kevin Lofton. He was elevated to interim head coach over the winter and guided the Lopers to a 5-22 record.
"Coach Young has a servant's heart which allows him to connect and build authentic relationships with the players and everyone he meets,” UCM head coach Adam Bohac said in a statement. “His tremendous success as a college player at Creighton University and his professional playing experience along with his past MIAA coaching and recruiting experience at Pitt State and Nebraska-Kearney will be a huge asset to our current and future players.”
Young, a Bellevue native, will coach under Bohac, who is a fellow Nebraskan. Bohac is from Kimball and played for the Huskers from 2000-2004.
Before becoming a coach, Young starred at Creighton University. He earned Missouri Valley Player of the Year honors in 2012.
UNK hired former Loper Marty Levinson as head coach in April.
