NEBRASKA -- An organization that helps brings families together will now be able to help families from a country in Central America.

Raíces del Sur's mission is to reunite families separated by the border between Mexico and the United States. Now, it will also be helping families from Guatemala.

The organization assists families with paperwork, accompanies them through the process, and makes sure everything runs smoothly through it.

According to its founder, Luis Aguilar, the group has managed to help 1,500 families since its inception in 2018. The organization works in 40 states of the US.

Aguilar said Raíces del Sur commonly helps people who can't leave the US and haven't seen their parents or family back in Mexico for more than a decade.

An organization representative makes the entire trip to and from the destination with the visiting family. Visits last up to 30 days.

The fees for services vary and include the cost of the visa and the round-trip flight.
