OMAHA, Neb. – Hastings and Adams Central's Track and Field teams are taking home medals in the 2024 State Track and Field Meet in Omaha.

Parker Ablott of Hastings High is the Boys Class B High Jump state champion with a jump of 6-08.00 (2.03m.) Ablott also won the High Jump at the District B-5 meet last week.

Ablott joins his grandfather, Doug Phelps (pictured above) to win a State High Jump title as Phelps was a three time champion from 1973-1975.

Megyn Scott of Adams Central won the bronze medal for third place in Girls Class B Pole Vault with a mark of 11-00.00 (3.35m.) She also finished third in the District B-5 meet last week. 

Austin Carrera of Hastings finished 4th in the 3200m and garnered five points for the team.?

Freshman Sophia Reynolds ran the Girls 400m in 57.54 seconds good for 7th place and two team points.

Abby Fish of Adams Central ran the 200m in 26.12 seconds for 9th place which is the best time to not qualify for today's finals as only the top 8 runners advance.

The Hastings Boys and Girls 4x800 relay teams both placed 5th. 

Jack Trausch of Adams Central placed top 10 in the Boys Triple Jump with an 8th place finish. 

Several events only featured preliminary races on Wednesday, and final races will take place on Thursday for Classes A and B.
