KEARNEY, Neb. - Jackson Polk tossed six innings and North Platte held off Kearney 11-8 on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Bulldogs (7-3) came one day after getting swept by Grand Island in a double-header. They erased that bad taste immediately by taking advantage of three Bearcats (10-9) errors to plate four runs in the first inning. North Platte chased Kearney starter Rydge Jackson before he could record an out.

Kearney made push, cutting the score to 5-4 after four innings, but never tied the game. Polk issued just one walk, not counting an intentional walk, over six innings and struck out four batters on the way to earning the win. The senior held the three through five hitters for Kearney to 0-6 through six innings.

North Platte, which is playing in its first season as a high school program, has just two regular season games remaining.
