HASTINGS, Neb. – Cole Poppen is stepping down as the Hastings College Men's Soccer Head Coach after three seasons.

The announcement came Tuesday morning. According to the college, Poppen is taking a position with a Des Moines soccer club in Iowa.

“We would like to thank Coach Poppen for his time and dedication to the Hastings College men’s soccer program over these past three years,” Athletic Director Chris Clements said. “We appreciate the work Poppen has done and wish him the best.”

In his three seasons, Poppen guided the Broncos to two national tournament appearances, a Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season title and a conference tournament title. He coached three All-Americans, two GPAC Players of the Year and 21 All-Conference honorees.

“We are committed to finding a coach who will keep our program at the top of the GPAC and contend nationally on an annual basis,” Clements said. “The men’s soccer program has a rich tradition of winning, and we are dedicated to finding the right coach to guide this program with the same expectations.”

The team's record under Poppen was 34-16-8.

A national search has begun to find the new Men's Soccer Head Coach.
