GRAND ISLAND, Neb. – Hundreds of Central Nebraska students spent a day learning all about agriculture.

For the 22nd year in a row, more than 700 fourth graders from 15 different schools gathered at Fonner Park in Grand Island to learn about how agriculture impacts their lives.

Hall County Ag Day Chair Annette Schimmer said the day was meant to teach kids about the important role agriculture plays in everyday life.

“If we can plant the spark and plant the seed and you know develop something, or they may not come, they may not remember it today or tomorrow, but maybe five years from now,'" Schimmer said.

Throughout the day, kids received hands-on experience at booths, saw several farm animals and watched a live demonstration from a horse trainer, horse farrier and a sheep shearer.
