Two-time defending champs keep post-season streak going
LINCOLN - Ashland-Greenwood is starting to feel at home in Lincoln.
The two-time Class C1 defending boys basketball champs extended their state tournament win streak to seven games on Thursday, beating seventh-seeded Doniphan-Trumbull 48-35.
The Blue Jays started strong but saw a mini-run by the Cardinals trim their lead to four by the half.
But A-G's smothering defense never let D-T get a rhythm over the final two quarters, as they extended their lead.
Ashland-Greenwood's unprecedented postseason run will continue in the C1 semis on Friday against either Douglas County West or Auburn, the team the Blue Jays have beaten for the title each of the last two seasons.
