OAKLAND, Neb. -- Oakland-Craig took down Freeman in the Class C2 Girls District Final 40-24 Friday night in Oakland in large part due to its full court pressure.

The Knights were led in scoring by sophomore Sonya Guzinski with 14 points and Senior Morgan Ray with 12 points. The full court pressure of the Knights forced the Falcons to turn the ball over more than 20 times in the game.

The Falcons were led by senior Faith Holland with seven points and sophomore Brooklyn Veerhusen with six points.

For the Falcons, this season was an impressive improvement to a 13-12 last season with a final record of 18-6 and a district final appearance. Also, the Falcons lineup is predominately underclassmen which shows the bright future for the team.

For the Knights, this is now a second straight trip to the state tournament for the team, which ended in a lost last year to Pender in the state championship game.

The Knights are 16-5 and will play in Lincoln next week for the state tournament.
