Snow emergencies declared ahead of expected winter storm

Cities in Central Nebraska are declaring snow emergencies as they prepare for an impending winter storm.

KEARNEY, Neb. - Cities in Central Nebraska are declaring snow emergencies as they prepare for an impending winter storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the eastern two-thirds of Nebraska starting Monday morning. All Tri-Cities area school district followed by canceling classes for Monday. Now, area cities have issued snow emergencies.

The snow emergency in Kearney lasts from 8:00 a.m. Monday to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday. The snow emergency in Hastings starts at the same time and lasts through 8:00 a.m. Wednesday. The emergencies mean that people aren't allowed to park on emergency snow routes. Violators will be towed and ticketed.
