ORD, Neb. - A high profile county official from Central Nebraska is behind bars following a lengthy investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol.

Valley County Sheriff Casey Hurlburt was arrested Tuesday on charges of fraudulent insurance acts, which is a Class IV felony.

If convicted, Hurlburt could face a maximum of two years in prison.

Hurlburt was first elected as Valley County Sheriff in 2008. The county contains five small communities, including the county seat, Ord.

While this investigation remains ongoing, Hurlburt has been booked into the Hall County Jail.
