United by Culture Media prepares for annual festival in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Neb. -- The fifth annual United by Culture Festival is once again aiming to promote cultural diversity.
In response to possible immigration raids in Lexington and the political climate back in 2016, people in the community thought there was a need for positivity. That was the origin of the festival.
Now in its fifth year, Co-Executive Director of United by Culture Media, Chris Cox said the mission remains the same.
“We want to make sure that this festival is a representation," Cox said. "Because as United by Culture Media, we understand representation matters. Seeing yourself or seeing your culture matters. And, that is another point that we would like to bring home with this festival, is that we’re trying to represent everyone that lives here.”
The festival will have 60 vendors in total and variety of activities for children and adults, like bouncy houses, petting zoo, live music and more.
The free event will take place at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
