Missing person and boat recovered near Swanson Reservoir

Nebraska State Patrol reported to the scene of a missing person and boat Friday morning.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- Nebraska State Patrol reported to the scene of a missing person and boat Friday morning.

Nebraska Game and Parks requested assistance from the NSP near Swanson Reservoir State Rec. Area when a Ford F-150 pickup and empty boat trailer were reportedly located unoccupied at the boat ramp. 

Game and Parks reportedly found the boat, which was also, unoccupied on the lake. 

Sonar equipment was then used by Game and Park officers which reportedly signaled to a suspected body underwater. 

The Imperial Search and Dive team then, reportedly, recovered the body. 

Officials said 68 year-old Michael Harrison of Goodland, Kansas was identified as the unoccupied boat's owner. Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hitchcock County requested that the NSP investigate the death.

The NSP said that foul play is not suspected at this time, pending a scheduled autopsy.

Hitchcock County Sheriff’s Office and Trenton Fire Department also reportedly assisted on the scene.

This incident is still under investigation.
