GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — The Nebraska State Fair is celebrating its highest attendance since before the pandemic.
A news release says 311,909 people attended the fair over its 11-day run, which was an 8.5% growth compared to last year. The fair hadn’t hosted 300,000 guests since before 2020.
“This year’s fair had something for everyone. Whether it was the 7,333 livestock entries, extensive entertainment, fun competitions, or wonderful choices of food, the variety was incredible,” Executive Director Jaime Parr said.
New events at the fair in 2023 included the Fair-tastic Friday low sensory day, the ATV Big Air Tour and Ultimate Bullriding. The fair also offered eight national concert performers.
For the second year, News Channel Nebraska partnered with the Nebraska State Fair to offer NCN App Day. Nearly 28,000 people attended that day and all had the option for free admission if they downloaded the NCN app.
This year, the fair celebrated its 4 millionth visitor since it moved to Grand Island in 2010.
Plans are already being made for the 2024 Nebraska State Fair. The theme will be “All Roads Lead to Fun” and the event will run from August 23-September 2.
