Joyride Pedal Company offers new way to enjoy downtown Hastings
People can now experience Hastings in a new way.
HASTINGS, Neb. -- People can now experience Hastings in a new way.
Joyride Pedal Company had its ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon among friends, family and the Hastings Chamber of Commerce.
Dusty and Tess Perry, the couple behind the idea, won the 2022 Big Idea Hastings and now it’s been a month since they’ve been offering rides.
“We saw another one in another town and we thought this would be a great addition for Hastings, with the downtown growing,“ Tess said. "We just wanted to have a reason for people to stay downtown and see the awesome stores that we have here in Hastings."
The couple said the bike will travel mostly around downtown, can be rented for two hours, and can fit 14 passengers. There are 10 pedal seats with two benches on the back for four people.
Even though passengers can bring alcohol, the owners want to remind everyone that it's also meant to be kid friendly.
“We try to be family friendly, we just don’t want to be known for alcohol and late-night parties." Dusty said. "We had a couple of little of kid birthday parties this last weekend that they really seemed to enjoy. We want to get involved in different organizations as well, to kind of help promote everything downtown and not just the bars and the bars and grills. We want to help everybody downtown."
The ride travels at four mph. There’s a TV on the ride and ports to charge phones.
Sunday to Thursday rides are $280, and Fridays and Saturdays are $350.
