HASTINGS, Neb. - Hastings Utilities continues to be busy helping to supply power to the regional transmission organization.

We reported last week that Hastings was operating all five of its power generation sites at the same time for the first time ever last Monday. Now the utilities department has set another record. A city news release says at 5 p.m. Friday, Hastings Utilities set a new generation record of 329.4 Megawatts Per Hour with the city load at 66.6 megawatts per hour.

Hastings’ previous record of 320 MWH was set in 2013 with three sites online.

The increased production is in response to a request from Southwest Power Pool.

Two of the five generations units were able to go offline Friday night at 9:00.
