ESPN Tri-Cities and KHAS Radio continue broadcasting partnership with Hastings College

HASTINGS, Neb. — Continuing a decades-long tradition, Hastings College athletic events will be broadcast live on KHAS and ESPN Tri-Cities radio during 2023-24 sports seasons.
Broncos football games will air live on both ESPN Tri-Cities signals this season, 1550 AM/92.7 FM in Hastings and 1460 AM/92.1 FM in Kearney. Many Hastings College men’s and women’s basketball and baseball games will air on KHAS 1230 AM/104.1 FM in the winter and spring.
“Hastings College is excited to continue our partnership with ESPN Tri-Cities and KHAS as it shows the importance of this partnership for Hastings and the surrounding community,” Athletic Director Chris Clements said. “ At Hastings College, we feel that providing our local fan base with the ability to listen to their local sports team is essential.”
The continued partnership demonstrates the desire of the stations, which are the only radio stations based in Hastings, to serve their local audience.
“We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with Hastings College and Broncos Athletics on ESPN Tri-Cities and KHAS, the longtime home of the Broncos,” ESPN Tri-Cities Sports Director Doug Duda said. “The excitement of Broncos athletics is once again high heading into the upcoming season, and veteran sportscaster Mike Will continues to bring an enthusiastic and professional voice to Hastings College fans.”
The continuing partnership comes at a time when Broncos sports are on an upward trajectory.
“Matt Franzen’s football team is coming off their best season in a decade,” Duda said. “Second year coach Todd Raridon has the men’s basketball program headed in the right direction, more than doubling their win total, and the women’s basketball program has always had success. Jina Douglas is a central Nebraska standout, and she has had plenty of talented players from the area that are of great interest to our listeners.”
The college views the exposure created by the radio broadcasts as a positive for its recruiting efforts.
“With a focus on recruiting local talent to Hastings College, we want to make sure that the community can continue to support those athletes as they take the next step in their career,” Clements said.
In addition to broadcasting over the air, Hastings College games will also be streamed at newschannelnebraska.com. The Broncos kick off their football season on August 26 at Peru State.
