KEARNEY, Neb. — Select Buffalo County high school students are going back to their schools more equipped to be leaders.

That’s the result of Envision, a one-day youth leadership summit hosted by the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce and the Development Council of Buffalo County. Development Specialist Kelsey Knehans says it aims to help shape the area’s future leaders.

“(Envision is about) being able to help them develop personally and professionally and diving into their strengths so they know why they think how they think," Knehans said. "(Then) they can go back to their communities and have a voice.”

Participating students were primarily sophomores and juniors and were selected by their schools. They all took the Gallup StrengthsFinder, then split up to rotate between breakout sessions in the morning and afternoon. The sessions ranged from interpreting the strength finder, to networking, to entrepreneurship and professional attire.

Envision is in its third year.
