GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- The “Bear Fair” attracts teddy bears and kids to the library.
On Monday morning preschoolers, families and their teddy bears gathered at the first session of the Bear Fair at the Grand Island Public Library.
The fair provides health and safety information from different agencies and organizations around the area.
Youth and Family Services Librarian Laura Fentress said she hopes the community learns about the different agencies.
“We’re hoping that kids and families can come out and meet all of these community helpers; and learn a lot and really enjoy and be informed about everything, everyone in the community who’s here to help," she said.
The free event offers a variety of educational activities. Kids get to meet firefighters, police officers, listen to bear tales, take part in a bear-obics class, learn about dental and eye care, make crafts and more.
The second session will run from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday night.
