OMAHA, Neb. -- A key piece of Creighton's Elite Eight squad will be back in Omaha next season.

Aurora native Baylor Scheierman announced via social media on Thursday that he will return to the Bluejays for a second season.

Scheierman tested the NBA Draft waters at the end of last season before announcing that he would transfer from South Dakota State to Creighton.

He was expected to consider the NBA Draft again this season, but chose to remain with the Creighton program for his final season of eligibility.

Scheierman averaged 12.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest in his first season in Omaha. In three seasons at South Dakota State, where he played for Wayne State grad Eric Henderson, Scheierman averaged 12.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest for the Jackrabbits.

One of Scheierman's biggest collegiate performances came in a high-scoring duel against then-No. 12 Xavier. Scheierman scored 25 points while going 10-of-18 from the field in a 90-87 loss to the Musketeers.

Scheierman averaged 12.8 points per game during the Bluejays' four NCAA Tournament contests this season, helping Creighton reach the round of eight.

He was an All-State performer in both football and basketball at Aurora High School.
