Car crash in Kearney leaves one dead

One person is dead after a single-car crash in Kearney.

KEARNEY, Neb. -- One person is dead after a single-car crash in Kearney. 

According to the Kearney Police Department, officers were called Tuesday around 1 a.m. Police responded to a crash at North Railroad Ave. and B Ave.

A preliminary investigation suggests the driver of the vehicle was going east on North Railroad at B Ave. when he left the roadway striking a power pole on the northeast corner of the intersection.

The sole occupant of the car has been identified as 31-year-old Michael Swalley of Kearney.

Swalley was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
