GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- Two people were arrested after a pursuit in Hamilton County over the weekend.

Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested two people, 36-year-old Travis Fielder and 36-year-old Brandon Proctor, following a pursuit around 12:15 a.m.

The NSP said a trooper saw a Dodge Magnum speeding on Interstate 80 near Aurora.

The trooper reportedly attempted a traffic stop, but authorities said the vehicle accelerated and fled at a high rate of speed.

According to NSP, at this time the trooper initiated a pursuit.

Authorities said the Dodge exited I-80 at the Aurora interchange and continued fleeing north.

The NSP said as the vehicle entered Aurora at a high rate of speed, the trooper discontinued the pursuit out of concern for public safety.

It was reported that a short time later, troopers saw the same vehicle traveling on county roads east of Aurora.

The NSP said the trooper tried to do another traffic stop, but the vehicle fled again. The trooper reportedly initiated a pursuit.

The vehicle reportedly continued fleeing east on Highway 34, towards Hampton, and the NSP said the Dodge drove on the wrong side of the road at times.

Officials said that as the vehicle reached Hampton, it turned north onto city streets.

A short time later, NSP said a trooper was able to successfully perform a tactical vehicle intervention to bring the vehicle to a stop.

The driver, Fielder of Grand Island, and passenger, Proctor of Bradshaw, were both taken into custody without further incident.

Fielder was arrested for an outstanding warrant from Hall County, as well as willful reckless driving, flight to avoid arrest, driving under the influence of drugs, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous traffic violations.

Proctor was arrested for a probation violation, as well as possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said that both men were lodged in the Hamilton County Jail.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office assisted with the incident.
