AXTELL, Neb. -- Authorities responded to an accident in central Nebraska on Friday, sending on to the hospital.

The Kearney County Sheriff's Office said they were called to a two-vehicle accident at the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 44 on Dec. 23 around 8:15 p.m.

A 46-year-old Naponee woman was driving a Chevy Suburban and stopped at the stop sign in the southbound lane on Highway 44, said authorities.

KCSO said a 60-year-old Holdrege man was driving a Ford Escape heading west on Highway 6/34, when he got distracted and collided with the front driver side of the Suburban. Officials said this cause the Escape to rollover once before resting on its wheels west of the intersection.

The Naponee woman was taken to a hospital in Minden by Axtell Volunteer Fire and Rescue.

It was reported that seatbelts were worn in both vehicles.

KCSO said they were assisted by members of the Minden Police Department, Axtell Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and Nebraska State Patrol.
