LINCOLN - Cedar Catholic bested a familiar foe to earn the Class D-1 State Title.

In their fourth meeting of the season with Norfolk Catholic, the seventh seeded Trojans knocked off their top-seeded foe in five sets.

The Trojans claimed the first set of the contest and traded sets with the Knights the rest of the way. In the fifth and deciding set, Cedar Catholic came out on top 15-8 to claim the program's third state title in program history.

Laney Kathol paced Cedar Catholic with a match-high 26 kills while Melayna McGregor added 16. Kathlyne Jones led the Trojans with a match-high 28 digs.

Norfolk Catholic's Channatee Robles led Norfolk Catholic with 23 kills in the defeat.

The two teams had met three times prior to the state championship clash. Norfolk Catholic came out on top in the first two regular season meetings before Cedar Catholic bested the Knights in subdistrict play and then the state championship.

Cedar Catholic's previous two state titles came in 1989 and 2012.
