Red Raiders end three-game losing streak; defeat Haymakers 19-7
The Sidney Red Raiders made the journey to Cozad for a Friday night matchup with the Haymakers.
The Red Raiders struck first on their first drive of the game when quarterback Isak Doty found wide receiver Austin Roelle for a nine-yard touchdown pass. The PAT was converted to give Sidney a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing drive, the Haymakers would even up when quarterback Noah Shoemaker linked up with wide receiver Isaac White for a 52-yard touchdown. Cozad would convert the PAT attempt.
In the second quarter, Sidney running back Luke Holly scored a 35-yard rushing touchdown to put the Red Raiders back on top 13-7. Sidney would miss the PAT attempt.
The next score in the game would come from Sidney to put the game away in the fourth quarter. Holly would find the endzone once more with less than three minutes to play. Sidney would go for two points and come up empty but win the game 19-7.
Cozad missed two field goals in the game as well.
This is the first time since 2018 that the Red Raiders have won more than two games in a season as both teams sit at 3-4 after Friday night’s game.
Cozad will face the Dusters next week in Holdrege while Sidney will host the Ogallala Indians.
