Denver woman sentenced in meth conspiracy

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A 35-year-old Colorado woman was sentenced to federal court in Lincoln on Monday for drug charges. 

The Acting U.S. Attorney announced that Tina Smith was sentenced for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine. 

The U.S. District Judge sentenced Smith to 57 months in prison. 

After her release from prison, she will begin a three-term of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. 

Beginning in February 2019, and continuing through May 2019, law enforcement used a confidential informant to purchase meth from Smith and her co-defendant, Taylor Brown, in McCook, Neb.

Smith was found responsible for at least 30 grams of actual meth.

Brown is scheduled to enter a plea of guilty on Oct. 13, 2022.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the McCook Police Department.
