KEARNEY, NE — The Kearney Police Department is praising the public and partner agencies for making Cruise Nite a safe event.
Kearney Police say they received 252 calls for service from Friday night through Sunday morning as thousands of people gathered for one of Kearney’s biggest events. KPD investigated eight accidents and performed 118 traffic stops over that stretch. Chief Bryan Waugh said it took cooperation to avoid any major concerns or incidents.
“Members of the Kearney Police Department and our partner agencies deployed resources, extra officers, and technology in preparation for the annual Cruise Nite event,” Waugh said in a news release. “Through effective planning, preparation, and the cooperation from our community this event was once again safe and enjoyable for those in attendance.”
The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska State Patrol and UNK Police also patrolled the festivities thanks to a state grant.
